Our Clinton Library Experience

Arrival: Our day started with the First Ladies of Arkansas Luncheon. The luncheon was to commemorate the changes and improvements in the Governor's Mansion and to remember the past.

Courtney (left) and Kylie were very excited to be on this Ladies Day Out. Little did we know just how monumentous it would be!!... 

Thanks to Helen Bullard, my mom, for what would prove to be an educational, historical and extremely exciting day.

Courtney's second grade teacher was there, Sarah Frost. Courtney was just as excited about seeing her as seeing any of the First Ladies.

Mom is never in any photographs, and when she is...she's unfamiliar with the process!! Oh well, at least my future grandchildren will know I was there. (& of course it's a good photo of my girls.) 

If you don't know me, you might not fully appreciate this picture. My thought is, what good is a picture, if Kylie & Courtney aren't in it?? I just couldn't let this photo go unused because my flash was too far away to illuminate the First Ladies in the background.

After leaving the luncheon we exited through the Peabody lobby. Imagine my delight when I spotted Dee Dee Myers. Ms. Myers was not only the first woman but also the youngest person ever to serve as White House Press Secretary.

My decision to take the girls out of school for what I knew would be an exciting and educational event, proved to be a wise decision. Meeting such a successful woman as Ms. Myers was just the beginning. We knew we'd see Senator Clinton at the luncheon and I'd hoped my daughters would be able to hear the former President speak. However the difference in what we expected and what happened made for not only an educational day but a fun-filled one as well!!

I'm mortified that I've forgotten this lady's name. Hopefully someone will refresh my memory.

James Carville ~ This photo-op, certainly added to the historical relevance of the day. This powerful and outspoken Democrat is credited for helping Clinton win the Presidency.

The 42nd President

The girls were thrilled to meet Robin Williams, I was thrilled they met the 42nd President of the United States of America!!

I'm happy for my mom that we have this picture. She has supported President Clinton since he was Governor. She's been to his gubernatorial inauguration balls, his fund-raisers, pep rallys, she's worked on his election campaigns, solicited his time for her Veterans Day Parade, and his first presidential inauguration ball. She even arranged it so that I assisted the Clinton Transition team. My job was to record some of the numerous gifts he received for Christmas after he was elected as the 42nd president. It really was fun. Don't you hate it when mom's are right?

At the AR Arts Center, it was surreal to be with the Rev. Jesse Jackson as he snacked on carrot sticks, Marilu Henner dined with her fiance, only to be the Clinton and Robin Williams families mingled among us all.
